Ever feel like you see your co-workers (or even your screen) more than your loved ones? Like you spend more time commuting to and from work than you do being care-free and spontaneous? Like you work way more than you play? If you're like most people, you probably do.
While our goal at TraideMasters is to help you increase your income, it goes far beyond that. We want you to have a life! We want you to have more time freedom too. We all know it's not just about money. The richest people I know aren't necessarily the happiest. In fact, they are normally so stressed about... money!!
Personally, I wouldn't trade the quality time I get with my family for all the money in the world. My hope is that God is 1st, family is 2nd, then friends... and work is way down the line. However, that is not usually how it works out in life. Many times our written and verbal priorities do not match our action priorities.
I wanted to quickly recommend this 3-step plan to help achieve a better balance in life and work.
Be A Master of Your Time Not a Servant To It
The Importance of Being Present
I learned this one from watching one of my friends. He is actually in the ministry at a local church here in my area. He used to have this horrible habit of checking email or taking calls when he was with his family. I would see it at restaurants, friend gatherings, and when we would stop by for a visit. He was an absentee husband and father, and it nearly cost him his most cherished possession... his family. I can tell you that he doesn't do that anymore! Now, when he's at work... he works!!! However, when he is with his family, he is "off" the grid totally. No work at all and he stay 99.9% present with them, no matter what.
The detrimental effects of multitasking between work and family are profound. When you try to juggle both, you rob your family of having real quality time, and your work is never at its best either.
Implementing the On/Off Switch
So, how do you implement this on/off switch? The key is to always be either hustling toward your goals or completely focused on your loved ones, but never both at the same time. Put the cell phone away at dinner. Be fully present in the moment, whether it's a business meeting or family game night.
When I'm doing business, I'm 100% "on". My family knows not to bother me when I'm in my home office and working. They understand that the work I do allows us to have so much quality time together, so they let me stay completely focused. This clear boundary helps maintain a healthy balance.
Remember Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This verse reminds us to give our all in everything we do, whether at work or with our families.
Get Committed to Your Vision
The Reality of 9-5
If you aren't yet making money in business, then you are more than likely working a full-time job. Working a traditional 9-5 (or equivalent) is where we all start because it was what we were taught to do growing up.
Let me ask you... do you ever think you will achieve complete work/life balance when you work for someone else for 40+ hours a week? The reality is, it just isn't possible. It's not to say you cannot live a great life working a full-time job, but no job gives you 100% freedom and flexibility like being a successful entrepreneur.
Overcoming Challenges
Before you can go any further down this path to life balance, you must get 100% committed to making your vision a reality. Do what you love, but realize it is going to be tough. You’ll take a few steps back before you take a step forward.
Just know it does get easier when you get the right systems in place. Not sure where to start? My answer is to always invest in automation. It can save you time and help you stay focused on what truly matters.
Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." This scripture encourages us to dedicate our work to God and trust that He will guide us on the right path.
Find A Community to Help You
The Power of Community
To get over the hump, you're going to need some help. When you have a full-time job, you're not left with a lot of extra time, especially if you have a family.
Trying to learn everything yourself through trial and error wastes a lot of time, money, and energy. Finding a proven team that has done it before cuts the learning curve significantly. That’s what communities like TraideMasters are here for. Our community provides the support, mentorship, and resources you need to succeed.
Seeking and Accepting Help
When you run into brick walls, ask for help, then keep plowing forward. It's important to remember that you don't have to do it all alone. Seeking and accepting help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." This verse highlights the importance of community and support in achieving our goals.
Conclusion
Achieving balance in both life and work is possible when you are the master of your time and commit to your vision, and find people to help you. Prioritize your faith, family, and personal well-being. With a smile on your face, peace in your heart, and loved ones by your side, it's just a matter of time before you reach the dreams that truly matter to you.
